Hi all,

Sorry no updates for a few hours... we had a difficult first night in the ICU.  He was very uncomfortable throughout the night and needed help or adjustments every 5-10 minutes.  Overall, he's doing well.  He can talk and move all arms and legs.  I was fading in and out of consciousness this morning but I gathered that Anderson will have an MRI later on this afternoon and possibly move out of the ICU soon.  He has no fever and appears to be recovering well.

Thank you for praying through the surgery.  Please continue to pray through the recovery.

  • Pain - he doesn't like to take pain medication but it's quite obvious that he's uncomfortable.  The pain meds also make him vomit which is disturbing to his sleep and traumatizing, especially when it happens so often.
  • Swelling - he's on steroids for the swelling.  Pray that the swelling goes down soon.
  • Rest - I know it's almost impossible to rest in the ICU, but still pray that he gets some.  Pray that he's stable enough to be transferred to the floor soon because then he won't have people coming in every hour to do neuro checks.
  • Complications - pray for protection against infection and additional complications of surgery.
  • Attitude - he's a bit frustrated right now with people.  Pray that he would be hopeful and that the rest of us would minimize the irritation and not add to it... too much.
  • Family - pray for patience, peace, and comfort for the family as we wait and endure.

I'll update again when there's more to report.

Miss you all...
Tiff

Hey all,

Things are looking good. Anderson got the MRI done at around 5pm and
he was pretty chatty with the nurse and his sister on the way there
(so I heard). We haven't heard any news yet about the results of the
MRI but the Doc said that he'd call either tonight or tomorrow so it
looks like he's going to call tomorrow.

Anderson got cleaned up this afternoon after the MRI and he's looking
a lot more comfortable. They've surrounded him with pillows and clean
sheets so I hope he'll rest better tonight. So far, not much nausea
and no vomitting. Tonight's nurse is pretty good. I think it'll be a
good night.

Hopefully we'll move out of the ICU tomorrow. I'll keep everyone
posted.

:)

Good Morning, everyone!

Busy morning for Anderson.  Doctors started coming in at 6am to check on him. They said his MRI from last night looks good, took off his head dressing and his staples/stitches look good on both sites, Occupational Therapy came and got him to sit up in the chair and do some arm and leg exercises.  We have a room on the floor waiting for us.  The ICU nurse just gave report to the floor nurse and I think we're waiting on transport to take us on over.

Anderson's sleeping now.  Busy morning.

<3, Tiff
